A Short List of Metals Which Can Be Easily Arc Welded

If you're curious about the type of metals that can be arc welded, then you're certainly in the right place and that's because in the following article we're going to focus exactly on this. Keep in mind that there are various differences between each arc welder and this can affect the type of metals that can be welded.

Aluminum

Aluminum is a nonferrous metal and this means that you won't any iron in it. Because of that, if you would like to weld it, then the method you're going to have to use is MIG welding. These types of welders use a tank of gas instead of a flux core wire and the results are also a lot cleaner. While some people may want and be able to use a stick welder in order to weld aluminum, it's very difficult to do so. On the other hand, if you're interested in very precise hand welded aluminum, going with the TIG method is very much recommended.

Iron

While iron is the main type of metal used in order to make steel, it seems that's not going to be used as often as it. Instead of being fused, it's cast, yet you can still weld iron. Therefore, if you need to make one or more iron welds, then stick welding is a great choice to consider. Just make sure to use a stick that's specifically meant for welding iron if you want to achieve the best results.

Titanium

One thing you need to know about titanium is that it's one of the toughest industrial metals out there. If you want to weld it, then you're certainly going to have to use the TIG welding method. While it is difficult to master it, if you want the weld to be very clean, then you're going to have to learn all about it. Not only is it great for titanium, but also aluminum and steel welding.

Steel

Not only is steel a favorite material used for custom sheet metal fabrication, but at the same time it seems that it can also be easily arc welded. Large jobs, including repairing or building heavy equipment are generally done by making use of a stick welder. Compared to MIG, gas shielded or wire feed welding, this type of welding is a lot harder to master, but it does offer great results regardless of the project you're going to use it for.
